Davison signs for DJR, Seton moves on

Press Release

V8 Supercar rookie sensation Will Davison has signed a long-term contract with Dick Johnson Racing. Davison will replace Glenn Seton in the number 18 Ford Falcon from the start of the 2006 season.

"Will is probably the most exciting young driving talent we've seen in V8 Supercars since the arrival of Marcos Ambrose," five-time Australian Champion Dick Johnson said.

"Since he tested with us early in the year he has impressed. Will did a fantastic job in the HPDC races at Queensland Raceway in the middle of the year, and did a very good job at Sandown and Bathurst, so we are delighted to have signed him long-term.

"We believe Will is going to be a major star in the years to come."

Davison is, of course, delighted to be joining the V8 Supercar Championship Series fulltime in 2006.

"It's a dream come true," Davison said.

"All my life I have wanted to be a professional race driver and to now have that opportunity, and with Dick Johnson's team, is fantastic.

"I am really looking forward to working with Steve (Johnson) as he is a real benchmark for me . we have worked very well together this year."

With Davison's signing, Glenn Seton leaves the Queensland based team to pursue other opportunities.

"Any decision like this is difficult, and we have enjoyed working with Glenn, but have decided to end our association," Dick Johnson confirmed.

"Everyone at DJR wishes Glenn all the very best for the future."

Seton will continue with the team up until the end of next weekend's final V8 round at Phillip Island.

"It is very disappointing that my contract has been cut short," Seton said.

"I am as hungry for success as I have ever been and I believe that I still have a lot to offer as a driver.

"Despite what has happened, I want to finish as strongly as I can and leave the team on a high note.".
