John Faulkner

John Faulkner is one of Australia's leading superspeedway drivers, now competing in V8 Supercar racing. John came to Australia from New Zealand and started his motor racing in a club events in 1974. In 1977 John won the Australian Hill Climb Championship. He finished sixth in his class at Bathurst in 1980 while at the same time pursuing an eight year stint in karting, winning many major titles. John's driving ultimately lead to him joining the factory backed Toyota Team Australia. John remained with Toyota from 1985 to 1990.

In 1991 John switched to superspeedway, racing an AUSCAR with considerable success, winning 'Rookie of the Year' in his first season. The 1993/94 Championship saw John claim 'Rookie of the Year' honours in the NASCAR ranks while at the same time maintaining his successful AUSCAR program.

The 1996 season saw John Faulkner's entry into Group A Touring Cars purchasing the exPeter Brock 05 HRT Commodore. Ranked as a privateer, he immediately made his mark with the factory teams, qualifying in the top 10 for Sandown Tickford 500 and placing Commodore into the AMP Bathurst 1000 TopTen Shootout eventually claiming third row on the grid in 6th.
