Dean Canto

by Phillip Whelan

After great results in GTP, Dean Canto (born 24th September 1980) gained a ride in the 1999 Bathurst 1000. Unfortunately the Graphic Skills Racing Commodore VS was hit by Darren Pate and put heavily into the wall on lap 49.

Dean's next entry in V8 Supercars, was racing an ex FTR EL Falcon in the 2000 Konica V8 Lites series. He showed great skill taking the EL to many wins, becoming the first V8 Lites Champion.

In 2001 Dean had good results in both the Bathurst 1000 and the Queensland 500. Despite this he did not gain a full time drive until being signed up for a ten - year contract in 2003 with Briggs Motorsort.
